National Safety Month 2024: Workplace Safety

Every June, the National Safety Council (NSC) leads National Safety Month to raise awareness about the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths while promoting effective workplace safety practices.

OSHA’s Enhanced Workplace Safety

This year, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) introduced enhanced training requirements for specific industries to help employers and employees more effectively prevent and manage safety hazards.

  • Training Frequency: Increased frequency of safety training is required in several industries to promote continuous learning and ongoing improvement in the workplace.
  • Training Intensity: More intensive training helps employees better understand safety protocols, making them more likely to follow them.

OSHA guidelines have been updated, and training on these guidelines has been intensified as a proactive approach to preventing accidents and exposures. Additionally, OSHA has adjusted the fines for non-compliance and safety violations in 2024.
