How To Schedule A DOT Physical

Every physical starts with a call. Our professional staff will match our availability to your schedule and book you an appointment. Physicals are either paid at the time of service or billed to your employer.

When clients arrive for their appointments, we’ll complete the necessary paperwork and start your sample collection before we transfer the client to our contracted physician for the remainder of the physical.

Rapid Drug Screening During Your DOT Physical

MedPhysicals has a company policy of performing a rapid 5-panel instant drug screen during every DOT physical. FMCSA does not require a drug test as part of every DOT physical.

However, the FMCSA Medical Examiner’s Handbook states that a certified medical examiner may obtain additional testing when they determine it is medically necessary to assess a driver’s qualification for certification.

Based on our medical provider’s professional judgment, MedPhysicals requires a rapid 5-panel non-DOT drug screen as part of our DOT medical examination process.

There is no additional charge for this service.

Drug Screening Policy for DOT Physicals

MedPhysicals Plus requires a rapid 5-panel drug screening as part of DOT physical examinations performed at our clinics. This screening is a MedPhysicals Plus provider policy and is not an FMCSA requirement.

Our medical providers use this non-DOT screening as one component of their overall evaluation when determining whether a driver meets applicable DOT medication and substance-use standards.

We make every effort to inform patients of this policy when scheduling their DOT physical so they can decide whether they would like to proceed with their examination at MedPhysicals Plus or choose another clinic.

We understand that some drivers may prefer to complete their DOT physical at a facility that does not have this additional screening requirement, and we respect that choice.
