Overcoming Procrastination For Your Health
As the year draws to a close, you’re probably now reflecting on your 2022 goals you accomplished, and what to add to your 2023 goals or New Year’s resolution. Gym enrollment is usually higher in the first quarter of the year, so it’s safe to say that staying HEALTHY is on the top of people’s new year goals. Why is it so hard to accomplish this past February?
There are a lot of reasons why we procrastinate on our health goals, all varying from person to person. Some factors that cause you to procrastinate include your mood, frustrations, low energy, having no deadlines, an unclear goal, you “live in the moment”, or simply it’s become your habit.
It may seem difficult at first, but there are a few things you can do to stop yourself from procrastinating and become a better and healthier version of yourself.
- Set an achievable goal
Set an achievable goal with a detailed plan that you need to follow. You must have a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish, which helps you maintain focus.
- Practice Discipline
Commit to your plan and follow through with the next steps as strictly as you can. Consistency triumphs over motivation. Motivation is based on external factors, but just committing to showing up a certain number of times a week can make a big difference in your discipline.
- Start slowly
Don’t overpush yourself into doing everything, especially if you’re just starting. Start with small sets of workouts, and slowly increase the difficulty as your body adjusts to each step.
- Reward yourself
Try rewarding yourself when a certain goal or milestone is achieved. This helps your yourself become more optimistic and makes achieving your goal more worthwhile. Also, you deserve it! People spend a lot of time comparing their success to others instead of celebrating how far they have come.
- Know and understand your body
You may fall short of your goals if you try to measure up to what someone else is doing. Ask about our health and wellness package to better understand your physical health, which can reveal a lot about your body and well-being, with no doctor’s note needed. Spend time figuring out what foods make you most energetic, which time of day works best, and make it personalised to your lifestyle.
